Attractions & Features
Yealmpton Show has many many varied attractions each year. The 2011 show saw attractions from Pony Club Cup Games and Tae Kwon Do displays in the Main Ring, to Heavy Horse Demonstrations in the Countryside Sports Arena. There is so much to see throughout the show ground with all the entries of horses, cattle, sheep and goats, as well as donkeys in the Countryside Marquee. A visit to the Homecraft and Horticultural tent is a must as is the Dog show and Pet tent. Not to be forgotten is the vast array of Trade Stands, as well as the Craft Tent and Food Stands, sure to satisfy even the most ardent of shopper.

From a Countryside Marquee, to Food Hall, and from Cakes and Handicraft to Diggers and Tractors, there is plenty at Yealmpton Show for everyone, young and old to enjoy.
There are two rings, the Main Ring and the Countryside Arena which are packed full of entertaining things for all to see and enjoy.

Sheep Dog Demonstrations
Fun for all the family and often with audience participation, Victor Pitts and his sheepdogs are a main ring attraction not to be missed. Victor is a working sheep farmer, from Exminster, Devon, and has over 10 years of experience working with border collies. Using sheep and/or ducks he creates a very realistic demonstration of these dogs at work. For further information, visit Victor’s website www.sheepdogdisplays.co.uk.
Tae Kwon Do Display
The Korea Eagles Youth Demonstration Team are visiting Plymouth in July and August. The national demonstration team from Seoul in South Korea are the standard bearers for the art of Tae Kwon Do. The demonstrations are a fantastic experience, with the Eagles capturing the imagination of everybody who sees them. The Eagles, a team consisting of 2 Grand Masters and approximately 22 members, with ages ranging from 7 to 25 years, visit Plymouth every 2 years and train with Plym Tae Kwon Do for 3-4 weeks. This raises the standard of the student’s ability as they are training with a world-class team, some of which are world champions.
They also perform at local community events and attractions such as Yealmpton Agricultural Show, the Plymouth Piazza and Woodlands Adventure Park. For further information about Plym Tae Kwon Do visit their website www.plymtaekwondo.com.
Pony Club Mounted Games
The Pony Club Mounted Games are a well-loved discipline of all pony clubs and provide a wonderful display of horsemanship, skill and team work. Each year, teams from the various branches of the Pony Club compete at regional qualifiers to claim one of the coveted six places at the Horse of the Year Show.
Parade of Hounds
An opportunity to enjoy a traditional sight of the countryside and for the children to meet the hounds.
Grand Parade and Presentation of Cups
The Grand Parade is the highlight of the show. Scheduled for 15.30pm, the parade is a chance for the winning horses, followed by the sheep, cattle and goat exhibitors to show off their prizes, as well as including the presentation of the cups.
Terrier Racing
New for this year, the Terrier Racing final will be held in the main ring. An ever popular attraction, the heats will be held in the Countryside Sports Arena throughout the day. If you have a Terrier that’s keen to race, make sure you check the timetable so as not to miss out

Countryside Sports Arena
A show within the show, the countryside ring gives a chance to get close to some of the favourites of the visitors. The ring is at the far end of the showground, giving a panoramic view over the main ring, showing rings and the trade stands, quite a setting.

Countryside Marquee
In the Countryside Marquee you will find a collection of different attractions all related to the countryside, from donkeys, to duck and owls and from Alpacas to Bees and with lots of things for children to get involved in. The Marquee is located at the top of the show field adjacent to the Countryside Sports Arena.
