A Fourth Prize and Rosette will be awarded in the Cattle Classes where there are seven or more entries

Judging commence at 10.00 a.m. promptly (South Devons 9.30 am.)

In the event of less than three exhibitors in any Class, then the committee reserve the right to either cancel that Class or amalgamate with another Class or Classes.

SOUTH DEVON CATTLE

Judge: Mr A. L. Pascoe, Cornwall

All Entries must be Registered in the Full Pedigree Section of the Herd Book maintained by the South Devon Herd Book Society.

Class

100. Cows exceeding three years old on 1st January 2011, in calf, having calved on or prior
        to that date
101. Cows exceeding three years old on 1st January 2011, having calved since that date.
102. Heifer born in 2008 in calf, or having had a full time calf.
103. Heifer born in 2009
104. Heifer born on or after 1st January 2010
105. Heifer, any age, not having had a calf and not having been a 1st, 2nd or 3rd Prize
       Winner at a previous Show in 2011
106. Bulls born before 1st January 2010
107. Bulls born on or after 1st January 2010
108. Group of any three Females entered in Class 100-105
109. Group of cattle, viz: Bull, any age, and two Females; only animals exhibited in
        previous Classes may compete.
 

SPECIAL PRIZES FOR SOUTH DEVON CATTLE

A Perpetual Trophy, presented in memory of the Late Fred Glanville for the Best Group of Three South Devon Females exhibited, all progeny of the same sire (C20)

A Perpetual Challenge Cup, presented by Sir Simon Day, to be awarded for the Best Yearling South Devon Bull or Heifer A Perpetual Silver Challenge Cup, presented by the Late R. J. B. Mildmay-White for the Best South Devon Female (C22)

A Perpetual Silver Challenge Cup, presented in memory of the Late Mrs. R. Bastard of Kitley, Yealmpton for the Best South Devon Bull. (C23)

Cash Value £10 presented by the South Devon Cattle Breeders Club for the Best South Devon Female exhibited by a full member, of the South Devon Cattle Breeders Club this prize to be won once only in any one year by a member (C24)

Championship Sash presented by the South Devon Herd Book Society for the Best South Devon Beast in the Show exhibited by a member of the Society; the animal to be entered in any section of the Herd Book or Supplementary Registers (C25)

A Perpetual Silver Challenge Cup, presented by the former St. Budeaux Horse Show for the most points in the South Devon Cattle Classes (C26)

 

HOLSTEIN FRIESIAN CATTLE

Judge: Bawn Coryn, Cornwall

Class

110. Heifer calf born after 1st September 2010, led by a person under 20 years old,
        to be judged on general turnout and presentation of calf.
111. Heifer born on or after 1st January 2010
112. Heifer in calf, not more than three 3 years old on day of show, and due to calf
        at not more than three years and 2 months.
113. Heifer, any age, not having had a calf and not having been a 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize
       winner at a previous Show in 2011
114. Cow, more than 5 months in calf.
115. Heifer in milk.
116. Cow in milk.
117. Group of any three Females entered in Classes 114 to 116 inclusive 
118. Best Dairy Cow. Production and Inspection.

For Cows in milk or in calf that have produced in one lactation not less than 9,000 kg milk at 3.6%+ BFat. The last complete 305 days Lactation Certificate must be handed to the stewards prior to judging.

SPECIAL PRIZES FOR HOLSTEIN FRIESIANS

A Perpetual Challenge Cup presented by Mrs. C .J. Smith of Dunston, Yealmpton for the Best Holstein Friesian in the Show (C27)

A Perpetual Challenge Cup presented by R.J. Andrews for the exhibitor gaining the most points in the Holstein Friesian Classes (C28)

A Championship Rosette and Plaque will be awarded by the Devon Holstein Club for the best Pedigree or Supplementary Registered animal in the Holstein Friesian Classes, bred and exhibited by a Devon Club Member. (C29)

A Perpetual Challenge Cup, presented by D. J. Jones (Livestock) for the Best Holstein Friesian Heifer from Classes 118, 119, 120 and 121 (C30)

A perpetual Challenge Cup, presented by Messrs. W. K. Pitts Ltd. for best cow in Dairy Class (C32)

Holstein UK offers a Championship Award rosette to the exhibitor of the Female Champion.

The Reserve Champion will also receive a rosette.

Holstein UK offers a Championship Exhibitor Bred rosette to the exhibitor of the female Exhibitor Bred champion.

Holstein UK offers a Best Udder rosette to the exhibitor of the Holstein with the Best udder in the Show (C33)

DEXTER CATTLE

       One Bull allowed.

SPECIAL PRIZES FOR DEXTER CATTLE

A Perpetual Rose Bowl, presented by Mrs. R. Graham for the Best Female
Dexter in the Show (C34).

Smith Kline Perpetual Trophy for best male Dexter in the show (C41).

The Dennis Luscombe Memorial Shield for the best Heifer 16 months to
2 years 2 months on the day of the Show (C42)

Silver Spoon and Rosette presented by the Dexter Cattle Breeders Society
to the Champion Dexter.

The Rosemary Brown Memorial Shield for the champion Dexter (C4la)

 

BEEF SECTION

134. Beef Bull, any breed, any age, must be full pedigree and registered with the relevant 
       breed Society and, where applicable, be licensed by the Society.
135. Beef Cow or Heifer in calf. Cows to have calved within 12 months of the date of the 
        Show.
136. Potential Christmas Beast. Any Sex. Born on or after 1st April 2010
137. Best Exhibit in Beef Cattle Classes ( Classes 133, 134, 135 & 136)


Young Handlers Class

Judge: Mr . J. Lee, Bristol

Class

138. Any Breed or Cross, born after 1st January 2009, led by a person aged 16 and younger.

To be judged on handlers turnout, presentation of animal and leaders ability to show animal, conformation of animal to be disregarded.

Prizes will also be allocated for the first three South Devons in this class

Handlers name and date of birth must be stated on entry forms

OTHER SPECIAL PRIZES for CATTLE SECTION

A Perpetual Challenge Cup, presented by R. R. B. Harvey, to the Supreme Interbreed Champion (open to Breed Champions and Beef Champion)(C37)

A Perpetual Challenge Cup, presented by Messrs. Farm Industries Ltd, for the Best Group of Three Females, any breed, shown, by one exhibitor (C39).

A Perpetual Challenge Cup, presented by the Late Mr. C. E. Harvey for the exhibitor gaining the most points in either the Cattle or Sheep Classes, excluding special prizes. Points can only be awarded for one entry in each Class (C38).

Cash Value £10 to the Yealmpton Show Herdsman 2011 to be judged on maintenance of cattle lines, general turnout and presentation of cattle (C40).

A Perpetual Challenge Cup, presented by Mr. Peter Mingo, for the exhibitor gaining the most points in the cattle classes at the three shows of Yealmpton, Totnes and Kingsbridge and to be presented at Kingsbridge.

Points will be awarded ( 1st - 3, 2nd - 2 and 3rd - 1 ) in classes 100 to 136 only Does not include Breed Championships.
